Matrescence & identity
For mothers grieving their old life, career or sense of self while loving their child.
Matrescence is the word for the enormous transition into motherhood — as big as adolescence, but rarely talked about. You can love your baby fiercely and still grieve the freedom, identity, career or relationship you had before. Both things are true.
This work is about making room for all of it: the love and the loss, the person you were and the one you’re becoming — without shame, and without pretending the change is small.
Other ways I can help
Postnatal depression
When the early months feel heavy, flat or frightening — not the joy you were promised.
Antenatal anxiety
Worry and dread during pregnancy that won’t switch off, no matter how ‘fine’ everything is.
Birth trauma
When the birth itself left a mark — flashbacks, fear, or a sense it wasn’t supposed to be like that.
